A jumping stirrup is an English stirrup iron designed for jumping work - typically with an angled tread for foot stability over fences, shock absorption to reduce impact on the rider's knees and ankles, and increasingly with safety features (breakaway sides). Modern composite jumping stirrups are lighter than traditional steel.
When should I use a jumping stirrup?
Use a dedicated jumping stirrup for any work involving fences. The angled tread keeps the foot stable as the rider rises into two-point position; the shock absorption protects the joints during landing.
What jumping stirrup brands do you stock?
Acavallo REL-X EASY and REL-X 180 ergonomic stirrups. Tech Stirrups Rome Racing. For stirrup leathers to pair with these irons, see stirrup leathers for the CWD range.

Standard adult stirrups are 4.75" (12cm) wide. The stirrup should leave 1cm of space either side of your boot. Some jumping stirrups come in narrower (4.5") or wider (5") options for specific foot sizes.
How do I care for a jumping stirrup?
Wipe down after each ride. Inspect the tread surface, the stirrup eye, and any flex/safety mechanism regularly. Replace any stirrup showing visible damage or compromised safety mechanism.
