Horse Blanket & Rugs

Turnout rugs, stable rugs and coolers, most of them Kentucky: the Horse Duvet 300G for deep winter, the 100 percent waterproof Rain Coat for a soaked turnout field, and around them the Kentucky Horse Bib, Tailguard and Show Rug. Dyon rugs and our own Equijump stable sheet complete the page. All of it ships from Ireland, duties settled at checkout.

Stocked in the same weather

These rugs are stocked in Tipperary, where the rain comes in sideways much as it does in Yorkshire or Devon. The Rain Coat is 100 percent waterproof. The Horse Duvet 300G is the heavyweight for the coldest stretch. A rug that earns its keep in an Irish field will not be surprised by a British one.

The kit around the turnout

Coolers do the drying after work and on the way home; the Equijump stable sheet covers mild nights in. The Kentucky Horse Bib sits under chest and shoulder to stop the rubs a clipped horse picks up living in a rug all winter, and the Tailguard protects the tail in the lorry. The Show Rug is the one that comes out at a show. Between them, the page dresses a horse from November turnout to a June show morning.

What it costs to ship, and thirty days to decide

Rugs are among the heavier things we post, so they sit at the top of the postage scale; the shipping page has the rates by weight. DHL Express still arrives in 1 to 2 working days to mainland Britain. Northern Ireland is even simpler: An Post, 2 to 3 working days. UK VAT and any import duty are collected at checkout and paid for you, so the driver hands over the parcel and nothing else. Keep the rug clean and the straps unmuddied while you decide; if it is wrong, send it back within 30 days in original condition and the refund includes the UK VAT you paid. Anything that arrives damaged goes to info@equijumpltd.com within 48 hours and we handle the rest.

Frequently Asked Questions

What horse rug brands do you stock?

Kentucky Horsewear anchors the range with waterproof rain coats, mid-weight horse duvets, heavy fleece rugs, lightweight under rugs, walker rugs and the Magnetic Recuptex therapeutic line. We also stock Dyon (wool rug, honeycomb cooler) and the Equijump Ltd own-brand stable sheet.

How do I size a horse rug?

Measure from the centre of the horse's chest, around the shoulder, along the side of the body, to the point of buttock. That measurement (in feet for the UK system, in centimetres for European) is your rug size. Most brands' charts map between the two. If your horse falls between sizes, going up usually fits better than going down.

What weight of horse rug do I need?

For Irish weather, a 300g mid-weight rug covers most stable use through autumn and winter. Lighter under rugs (around 100g) layer up for colder weather. A heavy fleece rug or cooler works as a layer or a light stable rug. The Rain Coat 100% Waterproof is the turnout option for wet weather. Tell us your horse's clip, where they're kept, and the weather you're rugging for.

What is the difference between turnout, stable and cooler rugs?

A turnout rug is waterproof and built for paddock use in wet weather. A stable rug (like the Kentucky Duvet) is breathable and keeps the horse warm in the box; not designed for rain. A cooler is a quick-dry layer used after work or after a wash to wick sweat away while the horse cools down. A walker rug is a specific cooler for use on a walker rather than a stable.

Are horse rugs waterproof and breathable?

The Kentucky Rain Coat is fully waterproof for paddock turnout. Stable rugs and coolers are breathable but not waterproof - they're for indoor use. The waterproof finish on a turnout rug benefits from periodic reproofing with a technical spray to keep its water-repellent performance.

How should I clean and store horse rugs?

Most rugs are machine-washable on a cool cycle (or via a dedicated rug-washer for heavy-soiled turnouts) - close fastenings, mild detergent, no softener, line dry. Reproof waterproof rugs after washing. Store clean and dry in a sealed bag or container to keep moths off; the Magnetic Recuptex range needs specific storage care - check the label.
