Frequently Asked Questions

What saddle covers do you stock?

We carry the CWD Classic Saddle Cover and the Butet Jumping Saddle Cover. Both are designed to fit their respective brand's saddles closely.

Why use a saddle cover?

A saddle cover protects the leather from dust, scratches and sunlight in storage, and keeps it clean during travel between yards or to and from competitions. For a calfskin saddle in particular, a breathable cover prevents surface marks and keeps dust off the seat between rides.

How do I choose between a soft and a hard saddle cover?

A soft fabric cover (like the CWD Classic and Butet Jumping covers) breathes well, fits closely and protects against everyday dust and scuffs. A hard travel case (not currently in our standard range) protects against heavier knocks during long-distance travel or shipping. Most riders only need a soft cover; hard cases are typical for international shipping or yard-to-yard transport in shared lorries.

Are saddle covers brand-specific?

The CWD and Butet covers are sized to fit those brands' saddles closely. They generally fit other monoflap or double-flap jumping saddles in similar sizes, but may not sit perfectly. For best fit, match the cover to the saddle brand.

Will a saddle cover fit a monoflap saddle?

Yes for most patterns. Monoflap saddles sit slightly differently to traditional double-flap saddles, and a closely-cut cover may need extra room. Tell us your saddle model and we'll confirm fit before you order.

How should I clean a saddle cover?

Most fabric saddle covers are machine-washable on a cool cycle. Close any zips or velcro, use a mild detergent, avoid softener and high heat, and line dry. Always check the care label.
