Frequently Asked Questions

What are cob boots?

Cob boots are protective horse boots specifically sized for cob-height horses (typically 14.2hh-15.2hh). The same boot patterns (tendon, fetlock, bell, turnout) come in cob sizing alongside pony, full and oversize. The protective function is identical to full-size boots; the difference is purely scale.

How do I know if my horse needs cob-size boots?

Most horses 14.2hh-15.2hh take cob-size boots. Measure the cannon bone circumference for tendon and fetlock boots, and check against the brand's chart. If your horse falls between cob and full, the brand chart usually indicates which way to size based on bone density.

Which boot brands offer cob sizing?

Kentucky Horsewear, CWD and Agrihealth all produce cob-size variants of their boot ranges. Tell us what kind of boot you need and your horse's measurements and we'll point you at the right brand and size.

Can pony-size boots fit a cob?

Sometimes - a cob with fine bone may take pony at the larger end, but cob-size is usually the safer fit. Boots that are too small constrict; boots that are too big twist on the leg.
