Calming Horse Supplement

A calming supplement supports horses that are nervous, excitable or reactive in specific situations like travel, competition or new environments. Calmers typically use magnesium (a relaxing mineral often deficient in stressed horses), L-tryptophan (a precursor to the calming hormone serotonin) and herbs like valerian or chamomile. They support but don't sedate.

Use calmers for genuinely nervous or reactive horses where the underlying behaviour isn't a training issue. Don't use as a substitute for training, riding skill or appropriate exercise. For event-day calming (travel, competition), short-acting paste calmers work in 30-60 minutes; for ongoing temperament support, daily magnesium-based products work over weeks.
