About Kentucky protective boots
Kentucky Horsewear builds tendon, fetlock, and overreach boots that blend impact protection with a light, close feel—animal-friendly materials, breathable liners, and clean, show-ready styling.
Front tendon boots
Open-front fronts protect the back of the foreleg from strikes while keeping the front lighter to encourage careful form. Anatomical shells and soft liners help the boot stay quiet through turns and combinations.
Hind fetlock boots
Compact fetlock boots shield against brushing and overreach without adding bulk. Even pressure and smart strap geometry keep them centered from warm-up to the ring.
Overreach (bell) boots
Hard-wearing bell boots protect the heel bulbs on take-off and landing. Low-spin designs with soft binding help prevent rubbing in daily training and at shows.
Materials & liners
Durable outer shells pair with breathable foams or faux-sheepskin (by model) for comfort and quick drying. Venting and flexible zones promote airflow and free movement.
Fit & sizing
Measure around the widest part of the cannon bone and note leg height. Boots should fit snugly with two fingers under the strap. Fronts sit just below the knee; hinds wrap and cradle the fetlock.
Care & maintenance
Knock off sand, rinse, and air-dry away from heat. Many models can be machine-washed cold—close the straps first and skip fabric softener. Check stitching, elastic, and closures routinely.
