Measure from the centre of the horse's chest, around the shoulder, along the side of the body, to the point of buttock. That measurement (in feet for the UK system, in centimetres for the European system) is your rug size. Kentucky rugs come in standard sizes and the Kentucky chart maps cm to feet. If your horse falls between sizes, going up usually fits better than going down.

Most Kentucky rugs are machine-washable on a cool cycle - close fastenings, use a mild detergent, avoid softener and high heat. The waterproof Rain Coat needs reproofing periodically with a technical spray to keep its water-repellent finish working. Magnetic Recuptex items need specific care - check the label.
