Noseband options & control

Choose a plain or raised cavesson for steady, even contact; add a discreet flash for a touch more stability; or opt for a figure-8 (grackle) to keep the nose more open and distribute pressure higher—popular with keen jumpers. Always select the mildest design that maintains consistent responses.

Headpieces & comfort details

Anatomically cut crowns and soft padding are designed to reduce pressure around the poll and base of the ears. Balanced cheekpiece angles and tidy keepers help the bit sit quietly for clearer, more dependable communication.

Reins & components

Some bridles are supplied without reins so you can choose your preferred grip and width—rubber for hold in all weather, laced leather for a classic feel, or web/biothane styles for a lighter contact. Matching martingale stops and cheekpieces complete the set.

Fit & sizing

Start with Pony/Cob/Full/Oversize, then adjust so cheeks are even and the browband doesn’t pinch. Aim for two fingers under the front of the cavesson, a comfortable throatlash, and a bit that creates quiet, symmetrical wrinkles at the lips.

Materials & care

Quality vegetable-tanned leathers and corrosion-resistant fittings stand up to daily use. Wipe sweat and dust after every ride, clean with mild saddle soap when needed and condition sparingly. Store away from heat and direct sunlight.

How do I choose the right CWD bridle for my horse?

The rider edition bridles each have a distinct character developed with the named rider - some lean stylish, others classic or refined - and the descriptions on the product pages explain the differences. The Anatomic line is the right starting point for most horses, with crossed throat piece and pressure-relief shaping. The FlexMotion line adds more flexibility through the headpiece. The Hackamore is for bitless work. Tell us your horse's size and what you're working on and we'll shortlist accordingly.
How do I size a CWD bridle?

CWD bridles come in pony, cob, full and oversize. Cob fits most 14.2hh-15.2hh horses; full fits 15.2hh and above. If your horse falls between sizes or has an unusual head shape, contact us and we'll advise on the best fit before you order.
How should I care for a CWD bridle?

Wipe down with a damp cloth after every ride. Clean with mild saddle soap once a week and condition sparingly with a quality balm - the CWD care range is matched to the leathers used in the Nontron workshop. Avoid heavy oiling and direct sunlight, and store unbuckled on a bridle rack in a cool, dry place.
