About CWD

CWD is a leader in modern French saddlery, known for precision craftsmanship, rider balance and a refined close-contact feel. Their workshop approach blends traditional leatherwork with thoughtful design so horse and rider move as one—whether schooling at home or competing on show day.

Why performance riders choose CWD

CWD prioritises balance, feel and freedom of the shoulder, helping riders maintain a secure, effective position without bulk. Premium leathers, careful panel design and consistent build quality make CWD a favourite among professionals and ambitious amateurs alike.

CWD saddlery: balance, feel, performance

CWD Sellier has built its reputation in Nontron, France, on premium leatherwork engineered for close contact and responsive communication between horse and rider. From jumping and hunter saddles to bridles, leathers, girths and accessories, every piece is crafted with the same attention to fit, balance and material quality. Calfskin and grain leather options are hand-finished and mould in with use for a feel that improves over time. Signature French leatherwork

Beyond the saddle, CWD bridlework, stirrup leathers and girths carry the same hallmarks: supple hides, clean stitching and durable, workmanlike finishes. Pieces are designed to wear in—not out—so your tack develops character while remaining ready for the ring.

Comfort and fit for horse and rider

Well-shaped panels and ergonomic girths help distribute pressure and promote lift through the topline. For the rider, carefully profiled flaps and knee support encourage a natural leg, quiet hands and consistent contact, improving communication at every pace.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is CWD known for?

CWD is a French saddle and leatherwork specialist, hand-building tack in Nontron in the Dordogne since the late 1990s. The brand is known for close-contact design, the carbon-Kevlar Dynamick tree, and a workshop approach that builds saddles to rider and horse measurements rather than to stock sizes. CWD is one of the most-used jumping saddle brands at the highest levels of the sport.

What CWD products do you stock?

We carry the full CWD range: saddles across the 2Gs, SE and iJump families plus the Mademoiselle line, bridles and nosebands, girths and belly guards, stirrup leathers, martingales and breastplates, reins, fetlock and tendon boots, and leather care products. Anything in the current CWD catalogue can be ordered if it's not on the site.

Are you an authorised CWD dealer in Ireland?

Yes. Equijump Ltd. has been the official Irish distributor for CWD since 2011. Every saddle and accessory ships direct from the CWD workshop with full manufacturer warranty, and we handle aftercare, warranty claims and replacement parts locally so you're not dealing with France yourself.

How do I choose the right CWD product for my horse?

For saddles, send us your rider measurements (height, inside leg, weight) and side and back photos of your horse. We'll shortlist suitable models, seat sizes, flap configurations and tree widths, and arrange a fitting where it's needed. For bridles, girths and accessories, tell us your horse's size and discipline and we'll point you at the right line.

How should I care for CWD leatherwork?

Wipe down with a damp cloth after each ride. Clean with a mild saddle soap once a week and condition sparingly with a quality leather balm. Avoid heavy oiling, which softens the leather too much, and keep your tack out of direct heat and sunlight. CWD's own care range is built around the same leathers used in their workshop and is the safest choice for calfskin. See CWD care products.

Where are CWD products made?

CWD's saddles, bridlework, girths and stirrup leathers are hand-built in the workshop in Nontron, south-west France, by individual saddlers. A small number of Mademoiselle range accessories - notably bags and soft goods - are produced at partner facilities outside France. If country of origin matters for a specific CWD product, ask us before you order and we'll check.
