Butet Horse Tack

Butet is a French saddle and leatherwork specialist based in Saumur in the Loire Valley, building saddles since 1953. Each saddle is hand-stitched in the Saumur workshop by a single saddler whose mark is stamped inside the flap. The brand is known for a lighter, closer-contact feel than most jumping saddles, calfskin construction, and a long-standing reputation in show jumping and hunter classes.

Saddles ship direct from the Saumur workshop with full manufacturer warranty, and we handle sizing, fitting consultations, warranty claims and aftercare locally so you have one point of contact in Ireland rather than dealing with the workshop yourself.

For saddles, send us your rider measurements (height, inside leg, weight) and clear side and back photos of your horse. We'll shortlist seat sizes, flap configurations, tree widths and leather choices, and arrange a fitting where it's needed. For bridles, girths and accessories, tell us your horse's size and discipline and we'll point you at the right line.

Wipe down after every ride and clean weekly with a mild saddle soap. Condition sparingly with a quality leather balm - calfskin doesn't want heavy oiling, and over-conditioning softens the leather more than it should. Keep tack out of direct heat and sunlight, and store on a supportive rack to preserve the shape of the saddle and the bridlework.
