Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What riding boot brands do you stock?

Ego7 is our anchor riding boot brand - Equijump Ltd. is the official Irish distributor for Ego7. The current online range covers tall and field boots across Ego7's adult and kids' lines, plus Ego7 boot care accessories (Boot Cream and Boot Bag), a Pharmakas grip spray, and a La Gee Boot Washer for the yard.

What is the difference between long boots, jodhpur boots and chaps?

Long (tall) boots reach the knee and sit close to the leg in a single piece - the standard for showing, dressage, jumping and any class where the look matters. Jodhpur boots are short ankle boots usually worn with jodhpurs (longer trousers) that finish at the ankle. Chaps are separate leather or synthetic leg-coverings worn over jodhpur boots to give the long-boot effect at lower cost or for schooling. We currently stock long boots through Ego7; chaps and jodhpur boots are available through our reseller network.

How do I size riding boots correctly?

Ego7 boots come in a wide range of continental sizes (with kids' sizes available separately) and multiple calf-width and height options. Most riders take their usual continental boot size; calf width and height are then chosen from Ego7's dedicated chart. We're happy to talk through the size chart if you're ordering at distance - it's worth confirming the calf width before you commit.

How long do quality riding boots last?

A well-made tall boot, cared for properly and used in regular work, typically lasts 5-10 years. Wear factors are: how often you ride, whether the boots get rained on regularly, how careful you are about drying and conditioning, and whether you walk in them outside the saddle. The leather lasts longer than the zip - a re-zip is a common repair before the boot itself is worn out.

How should I care for leather riding boots?

Clean the leather with a damp cloth after each use. Condition with the Ego7 Boot Cream (or any quality leather balm) every couple of weeks in regular use. Store with shaped boot trees inside to keep the leg shape, and use a boot bag for travel to protect the leather and any patent finish. Don't dry wet boots near a direct heat source - leather dries best at room temperature. The La Gee Boot Washer is a useful yard tool for cleaning the soles before bringing boots inside.

Do you stock waterproof or winter riding boots?

Our online stock focuses on Ego7's standard tall boot patterns. For dedicated waterproof yard boots, winter wellingtons or thermal-lined options, contact us - some are available in-store at Thurles or through our reseller network even if they're not online.
