About CWD reins

CWD reins are built for grip, clarity and a tidy hand position—available in leather, rubber and web constructions with options such as closely spaced stoppers or loops so you can match feel to your discipline.

Styles we stock

Our line-up covers everyday favourites: braided-leather hunter reins, rubber contact reins with stoppers for all-weather hold, reinforced web reins for a light, flexible feel, and slim profiles for riders who prefer a finer contact.

Grip & hardware details

Leather stoppers help you keep even lengths, while strong buckle or hook-stud fastenings and neatly stitched ends add durability. Choose the finish that balances grip with the hand feel you prefer.

Widths & sizing

Narrower widths feel refined and quick in the hand; broader widths add stability—useful on forward horses or in wet weather. Lengths match standard bridle sizing from Pony to Full/Oversize.

Care & longevity

Wipe sweat and arena dust after each ride; rinse rubber/web grips as needed and condition leather sparingly. Keep away from heat and direct sunlight; check stitching and fastenings regularly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What CWD reins do you stock?

We carry the full CWD rein range across rubber (contact and stopper patterns), leather (loop, contact and hunter patterns), web (loop and contact) and the Gogue Reins for use with the CWD Gogue training aid.

Are you an authorised CWD dealer in Ireland?

Yes. Equijump Ltd. is the official Irish distributor for CWD. Reins ship direct from Nontron with full manufacturer warranty.

How do I choose the right pair of CWD reins?

Rubber reins (with or without stoppers) give the strongest grip in wet weather and for riders who want maximum security on a strong horse. Web reins (loop or contact) are lighter in the hand and suit dressage and hunter classes. Leather reins (loop or contact) are the classic choice and give the most direct feel between horse and rider. The Hunter Rein is the traditional pattern for hunter classes. Tell us your discipline and preference and we'll shortlist.

How do I size or fit a pair of CWD reins?

CWD reins come in standard rein lengths suitable for pony, cob and full bridles. The standard adult length suits most horses 15.2hh and above; pony and cob lengths are shorter. Reins should sit comfortably in your hand at working contact without pulling tight or hanging slack. Tell us your horse's size and we'll confirm the right length.

How should I care for CWD reins?

Wipe leather and rubber reins down after each ride. Clean leather weekly with mild saddle soap and condition sparingly. Rubber reins benefit from an occasional warm wash to remove built-up sweat. Web reins can be hand-washed when needed and air-dried. Inspect the bit-end attachments regularly for stitching or stud wear.

Are CWD reins compatible with non-CWD bridles?

Yes. CWD reins use standard buckle and stud attachments and will fit any standard snaffle bridle bit ring. If you're using a specific non-standard bit attachment, send us a photo and we'll confirm compatibility.
