About CWD girths

CWD girths combine refined French leatherwork with practical comfort. Clean lines, soft padding and precise stitching help keep the saddle stable while allowing natural freedom through the shoulder and elbow.

Shapes & options

Choose contoured long girths for jump and GP saddles with short billets; short (dressage/monoflap) girths for long billets; and stud-guard (belly guard) girths for extra protection over fences. Central D-rings and discreet snap hooks make it easy to attach martingales or training aids.

Anatomic comfort

Cut-back zones and rounded edges are designed to reduce rubbing and let the elbow move freely. Thoughtful padding keeps pressure even so the saddle sits quiet across changes of pace and stride.

Leather & hardware

Supple calfskin or grain leathers offer grip and longevity, paired with roller buckles for smooth adjustments and quality elastic (one- or two-sided depending on model) to maintain even tension.

Fit & sizing

Match girth type to your billets. For long girths, measure so the buckles sit clear of the elbow on both sides; for short girths, aim for buckles just above the widest part of the ribcage. Keep the stud-guard centred and clear of the shoulder.

Care & maintenance

Wipe sweat after each ride, clean with mild saddle soap and condition sparingly. Avoid heavy oiling and direct heat. Check stitching, elastic and hardware routinely for long service life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What CWD girths do you stock?

We carry the full CWD girth range, including the FlexMotion line (with and without belly guard), the Belly Guard, the Classic, the Removable Sheepskin Lining, the Contact Short for monoflap saddles, the Ipulse and the Sport Color line. Most patterns are also available in the Mademoiselle line.

Are you an authorised CWD dealer in Ireland?

Yes. Equijump Ltd. is the official Irish distributor for CWD. CWD girths ship direct from Nontron with full manufacturer warranty.

How do I choose the right CWD girth for my horse?

For jumping, the Flexmotion belly guard adds protection from front studs while the standard Flexmotion suits horses without that need. The Removable Sheepskin Lining suits sensitive horses or hot weather. The Contact Short is for monoflap saddles. The Ipulse is built around CWD's elastic technology for shoulder freedom. Tell us your horse's measurements and discipline and we'll shortlist.

How do I size a CWD girth?

Measure from the bottom of one billet, under the horse, to the bottom of the other billet on a saddle that fits well, then add about 5cm-10cm so the buckles sit clear of the elbow on either side. CWD girths come in standard girth sizing in centimetres. If you're between sizes, our team can advise.

How should I care for a CWD girth?

Wipe down after each use to clear sweat and dirt. Clean with a mild saddle soap weekly and condition the leather sparingly. Removable sheepskin and wool linings can be brushed and air-dried; check the label for washing guidance. Avoid heavy oiling and direct sunlight.

Should I choose a regular girth or a belly guard?

A belly guard girth has a raised section at the front to protect the horse's belly from front-shoe studs while jumping. If you ride with studs in front, choose belly guard. If you don't, the standard girth is lighter and slightly cleaner-looking. The Flexmotion technology is available in both versions.
