How should I store and care for a riding whip?

Hang or stand whips upright - never store flat or folded, as the shaft holds a permanent bend. Wipe down after use to clear sweat from the grip. Carbon and fibreglass shafts need no further care; leather grips can be wiped with a damp cloth occasionally. Replace whips that have developed a noticeable bend or where the grip is wearing through.
