Frequently Asked Questions

What is a jumping saddle?

A jumping saddle is an English saddle designed for show jumping, hunters, eventing show jumping phase, and cross-country. It has a forward-cut flap to accommodate the rider's shorter jumping stirrup length, knee blocks for security over fences, and a relatively flat seat to allow the rider to move freely between two-point and seated positions.

When should I choose a jumping saddle?

Choose a jumping saddle for any discipline involving fences. The forward flap and knee blocks are essential for jumping safety; a dressage or general-purpose saddle won't position the rider correctly over fences.

How do I choose between brands?

CWD and Butet are the two French jumping saddle anchors in our range, both built to rider and horse measurements. CWD offers more model variation (2Gs, SE, iJump families); Butet takes a more minimalist approach with a lighter feel and closer contact. The choice often comes down to riding position and horse type rather than brand. See saddles for the full comparison.

What jumping saddle brands do you stock?

CWD covers the 2Gs and SE families plus the Mademoiselle line and Hunter Jumper Tr (semi-deep, flat, calfskin variants), pony and kid saddles. Butet covers Flat, Semi-Flat, Semi-Deep and Deep seat profiles plus monoflap options.

Can a jumping saddle be built to my measurements?

Yes. Both CWD and Butet build to order. Send rider measurements (height, inside leg, weight), saddle preferences and side/back photos of your horse, and we'll arrange the build. Built-to-order pricing matches stock pricing.

How do I care for a jumping saddle?

Wipe down after every ride. Clean weekly with a mild saddle soap and condition lightly with a quality leather balm. Avoid heavy oiling, direct heat and sunlight, and store on a supportive rack with a breathable cover.
