Frequently Asked Questions

What pony tack and equipment do you stock?

The Pony collection brings together every item we stock that's available in pony sizing or specifically suits ponies. Dyon anchors the pony bridle range with anatomic and Working Collection patterns in pony sizes; CWD and Dyon both offer pony-size martingales; Trust Equestrian makes pony-specific sweet iron bits; Dyon covers pony-size reins, bridle accessories and rugs.

Which brands suit pony riders?

Dyon and Trust Equestrian make the largest pony-specific selections in our range. CWD also produces pony-size saddles, bridles, girths and boots which are available to order. For showing-quality leather pony tack, the Dyon Working Collection is well-priced and the New English Collection sits at the higher end.

How do I size tack for a pony?

Most bridles, headcollars and rugs come in pony-specific sizes (typically fitting ponies 12hh-14.2hh). Bits size by mouth width in centimetres. Saddles for ponies are usually built smaller in seat and flap than full-size; for a fitted pony saddle, we work with you on rider and pony measurements like any saddle order. For other tack, send us your pony's height and head/girth measurements and we'll point you at the right size.

Do you stock pony bits, bridles and headcollars?

Yes for pony bits (Trust Equestrian sweet iron range) and pony bridles (Dyon range). Pony-specific headcollars are not currently a separate sub-collection - the standard Kentucky and Equijump Ltd headcollars come in pony sizes. Tell us your pony's head size and we'll confirm.

Are the saddles built for pony backs?

CWD and Butet both build pony-specific saddle patterns to order. Pony saddles are smaller than the half-size adult equivalents, with a tree shape and panel configuration designed for the typical pony back. Send us pony measurements and rider age/height and we'll start the build.

Can you advise on tack for a young or sensitive pony?

Yes. For young ponies, the Trust Equestrian Inno Sense pony bits (flexible synthetic mouthpiece) are usually the right starting point - softer than metal and forgiving with a still-developing mouth. For sensitive ponies, the Dyon anatomic bridle patterns reduce pressure at the poll, throat and ears. Tell us your pony's age and what you've noticed and we'll shortlist accordingly.
